If you have ever setup Office 365 for an enterprise environment you probably know there is a tool that is installed that syncs object with the cloud called DirSync. This tool was build on MIIS which was a 32bit only and it required you to install a 32bit OS for it to work. This meat that you could not use Windows Server 2008 R2 as this OS was only available in x64 flavour.
Well good news according to this link on the community http://community.office365.com/en-us/w/sso/555.aspx Microsoft have now released a x64 bit version of the DirSync tool. Meaning you can now ditch that old 32bit Windows Server 2008 server.
