Microsoft Bing Maps have just demoed the new mapping feature at TED. This is really cutting edge mapping technology that is shown off some awesome 3D views integrated with street side view and it shows the integration of Flickr photos and real time live video.
Now if we could just get this sort of map integration with Windows Phone 7….
A few months ago Microsoft launched street side view (similar to Google street view). Now Bing maps have just recently released an update that integrates Flickr photos into the street side view. This uses the photo matching software of Photosynth to match any creative common geo-tagged photo on Flickr. This is truly an amazing feature and i just cant wait for this to go live in Australia.

Looks like Microsoft has just enabled an ability to exactly alight you Photosynth with the location on maps. This feature allows you to change the scale and the orientation of you Photosynth so when you zoom in using Bing maps it is aligned correctly with that location… Looks very cool and I have not seen any word from Microsoft about this feature so I am not even sure if this is supposed to be public yet.
Photos and video showing how it work below:
Chose your Photosynth and click Edit Synth
Click the Geotag Tab
Under Alignment Click the Start button
Rotate the layover point map with the <> and + – controls
Align the point map to the features on the map
Click Test
