Apple iPad video loses Flash support

After all the recent articles about the iPad promo video showing it having flash support Apple has done a 180 and has now removed the flash content from the video on their website. This shows that Apple video of the device was a total mock up and that that it is highly un-likely that it will get flash support. Seeing that web plug-ins like could be used to write fully functional apps (thus bypassing the AppStore) I seriously doubt that Apple would ever let SilverLight and/or flash run on their device.

Before – Flash enabled

After – No Flash

There has been a few posts about some of the videos that Apple released showing flash content being rendered on the display. However this seem to be Apple have a marketing stuff up as another pages that shows the Safari displaying the New York Time home page with the flash based video clearly missing. I speculate that the video shown on the Apple web of the iPad was a mock up of the device using the Safari video captured on OSX.

Below is a list of all the sites i can find that have posted negative reviews of the iPad. I firmly think that this device is just an oversized iPod touch. I am sure many Mac Fan boys will like but it just leaves me with the question “what can it do that a Netbook cant"?”

While its no surprise that some sites some sites are on the list (e.g. Windows IT Pro, MSNBC) it is very surprising that sites like The iPhone Blog and Gizmodo have been publishing bad (and good) reviews. Also interesting is that  someone at BrisbaneTimes.com.au must really hate Apple as they have no less than 4 negative articles.

Back in October Gizmodo leaked a couple of videos showing a device called the “Courier”. It was claimed that this was a video from Microsoft but at the time Microsoft’s reaction what NO Comment.

Notice the layout of the photo gallery and the way the pages turn using the flick gesture.

Do you think they are similar…?
