Tonight i went to Harvey Norman Carindale and bought my copies (yes plural) of Windows Vista… I bought Vista Ultimate (Upgrade) for my computer and Vista Home Premium (Upgrade) for Alicia’s computer…. It was exactly 11:12 when i bought the software there was about 5 other people at the store and the staff thanks us for making it worth while opening up the store…  I also go two free Microsoft Livecam VX-1000 as well… so now i have all the hardware ready for video conferencing in Live Messenger…

 

Windows Vista Ultimate comes in 32bit and 64bit… but Vista Home Premium on comes in 32bit…

Have recently done some upgrades at home with the computer… I have finally been able to convince Alicia that a second computer in the house would be a good idea and so we have trundled down to Office Works and bought a table for her to use in the study…. I went to GameDude and bought some really cheap ram to upgrade her computer to 1gb and a really cheap Nvidia 6600 256mb video card so she can have the full vista "Glass" affect… All up i was able to upgrade the old computer for under $300… Not a bad little exercise considering that many other people in the next few month will probably be doing the same thing so they can run the vista Glass UI…. I don’t think to many people will stay with the "Aero Basic" look and feel once they see "Aero Glass"…. The two computer are also networked together so i am also hoping to get some sort of file sync going between the two computers that way Alicia can work on both computers without having to worry about where to save here files…. It will be interesting how the next few days will go with the computer to see if it can be setup with a minimum of fuss which is what i am hoping otherwise Microsoft might be in for a hard sell after all that RnD on making the OS more usable… time will tell…
